These are essential documents and ideally should be registered once they have been executed.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document which permits you to appoint one or more people, that you trust, to make decisions on your behalf when you are no longer able to do so. There are two types of LPA’s; Property & Affairs and Health & Welfare.

The Property & Affairs LPA allows you to nominate people (quite often family or friends that you trust) to help look after your finances. This can include paying your bills, collecting benefits, doing your banking or buying or selling your property. Without a Lasting Powers of Attorney, if you lose ‘capacity’ your assets can be frozen and applying for a Court of Protection order can be costly and stressful.

A Health & Welfare LPA can apply to such matters as medical care, your day to day care, representing your best interests in relation to life sustaining medical treatment or helping you should you need to move into a care home.

Both of these documents are essential and we can arrange for both of them to be put in place and to be registered.
